Here is a macro-invertabrate tally sheet taken from our stream
animal_survey.gif

On this tally sheet, each group represents water quality in the stream. Macroinvertebrates found in Group I are the prefered organisms in a stream. They are sensitive to water quality and are not found in streams that have bad water quality. Group II contains macroinvertebrates more tolerant of water pollution, also relatively good to find in a stream. Finally, animals in Group III represent bad water quality in a stream and are highly tolerant of poor conditions. In our stream, we found only one macroinvertebrate in Group I, three in Group II, and three in Group III. However, despite a large number of undesireable organisms, we recieved a total a 12, which is in the Fair range.
