Determining quality of water.

One of the primary efforts in this reclamation project is to improve the water quality of the stream. For years, our stream has been littered with E. Coli, Petroleum run-off, arsenic, barium, fertilizer, and a detrimental quantity of sediment. The restoration project will drastically reduce pollutants found in the stream, by redirecting storm sewers to run into wetlands first, as well as by allowing the stream to host a variety of different plants that will filter pollutants. Also, once the stream becomes more serpentine, erosion will no longer be a problem, so sediment levels will be reduced. All of these actions are desperately needed because the macro invertebrate life in our stream is nearly non-existent due to pollution. Overall, the water quality will improve as long as we can make the community aware of their effect on the watershed and health of our stream.
